Welcome back to another week of the #MFRWauthor blog hop. In week 17 we talked about our top five places we'd like to visit. This week we're discussing the most beautiful place we've seen.
I've not done a lot of traveling in my life. When I was in high school I went to London with the high school band. It was nice, but we were there in January so it was cold and gray.
When I got married, we went to Jamaica for our honeymoon. The resort was beautiful. The beaches were straight off a postcard. The tropical surroundings couldn't be beat.
That is sort of the extent of my traveling abroad. I'm pretty much a homebody for the most part. There are tons of places I'd love to see, all of them I have no doubt will be breathtaking should I ever get to visit.
The one place I have gone to a lot since marriage is Arizona. My husband's family is from there, so we travel to go see them. I'm a born and raised Georgia girl, so going to a landscape so different from what I'm used to I loved. And still love to this day.
I know some people look that the desert, the dry, dusty, and sometimes barren landscape and see just that. To me though it's beautiful Surviving in climates such as that isn't easy on the plant life or the animal life, but they find a way.
My inlaw's backyard backs up to a resort's golf course. It runs through their subdivision and

I enjoy going to visit there. A lot of people think I'm crazy when I say that, but it's true. Even in temps well over 100 degrees, still I love it. I've told my husband I wouldn't mind moving there if his work would allow it.
One year we took a trip to the Grand Canyon and traveled through Sedona.

So there you have it. The most beautiful place I've seen would be Arizona, Sedona, Arizona to be more specific. I've told my husband on our next trip out to see his family I want to go there again for an overnight stay.
So what about you? What's the most beautiful place you've ever seen? Be sure to stop by the other authors on this hop to see what they have to say.

A lot of people love Arizona, but I will say you should experience a summer here before making plans to move. Tucson recently had 17 straight days over 105! Ugh.
ReplyDeleteDon't apologize for not traveling much. I've traveled a fair amount but I've still never seen anywhere prettier that a spot in the mountains I first visited as a teen.
Ed I've been there in the summer plenty of times. With my kids in school we often take our trips over their summer breaks so we can stay for longer. It's get super hot but still I wouldn't mind living there. Already picked out the area. Have to stay in the Desert Ridge location in Phoenix. That's where my in-laws are and I know that area.

I love Arizona also, Meka, though not so much in the summer, unless I'm up in the mountains near Prescott. In fact, we're heading to Prescott next week for a gathering of my husband's family. Add Prescott to your sight-seeing list if you can.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the summers are brutal. I don't think I've been to Prescott. I'll have to talk to Hubby about it for our next trip which we're thinking will be next summer. LOL

Grand Canyon is a place to visit someday. If caregiving and medical settles down. Your post reminded me of visits to New Orleans and the Texas gulf coast. Thanks for the memories your pictures stirred up.
ReplyDeleteIt was a stunning place. I'd love to go again since we went before the last two kids were around. New Orleans is a great place. Would love to experience it not in the dead of summer. LOL

I've always wanted to visit Arizona.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great place. I enjoy going.

I like your attitude, Meka! I'd been to parts of Arizona and California, Nevada and New Mexico, and while I did find the landscape interesting and sometimes cool, it just never struck me as being breathtakingly beautiful. Well, there was that drive through the desert in spring. That was pretty! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've never seen the desert in spring. It's always been either summer or winter.

I agree, Meka, the Sedona area is breathtaking. Take your kids to Slide Rock if you go again - they'll love it. You actually slide down a smooth rock area and into the stream to cool off. I think they have picnicking, as well. I hope you get to go soon!
ReplyDeleteWe went to slide rock. Was not expecting the water to be so cold. LOL I will need to tell my hubby we should go back next time so the younger two boys can experience it.

The desert has a unique beauty. Very god-like. I can see why you'd choose Arizona.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great place. I enjoy the landscape and would be more than okay moving there someday.
