Book Review: Wild Flowers

It’s been a while since I’ve done an ARC review. I met Gemma at the RWA(Romance Writers of America) conference in Denver this past July. Before that we’d ‘met’ online thanks to the #MFRWauthor blog hop. When she mentioned she had a new book coming out I offered to read for her because I hadn’t had a chance to read her work. Let’s get on to the review.

When it comes to the two very tempting search-and-rescue survivalists, Lily Hollis is all about getting in touch with nature…

Five years have passed since her fiancé’s death and Lily Hollis has had enough. She’s done with the self-pity and the guilt and putting the brakes on her own life. She’s going to visit her sister, Madison, in Wolf Creek, Montana and she’s going to finish her master’s research, finally graduating, like she never did all those years ago.

But Wolf Creek holds temptation, specifically in the form of the very sexy, very dangerous Dec McCormick and Micah Ellison, two search-and-rescue specialists who run a survival camp near her sister’s ranch. When they suggest she stay with them to complete her fieldwork, Lily is shocked to find herself agreeing. After all, she hasn’t wanted a man in a very long time and now she finds herself wanting two.

Which is…complicated. Because, while some of the folks in Wolf Creek don’t mind unorthodox relationships, Dec and Micah are clear from the start that it doesn’t appeal to them. It’s a shame Lily’s fool heart can’t seem to get the idea, because the more time she spends with the two men, the more she finds herself caring—that is, until one damning question could bring everything to a crashing halt.

Lily knows deep down that there’s more to whatever’s between them, but the question is, can she ever get Dec and Micah to believe it—and what might the future hold if they do?

MY REVIEW
**4 STARS**

Wild Flowers is book 2 in the Triple Diamond series. While this one can be read as a standalone, because I haven’t read book one, there are characters from that book that make an appearance in this one. It's scheduled for release on September 4th, but pre-order links are at the bottom of the review.

This is my first M/F/M read and not gonna lie, I worried I’d get confused with whose body parts belonged to who when the sexy times rolled around. Not because of the writing, but totally because I’m me and can get easily confused at times. I’m happy to report that while I did have one or two ‘wait a minute’ moments I was able to keep track of all limbs without needing to re-read a bunch of times. The sex scenes delivered and made for a hot red whether the three were all together or it was one on one time.

Okay, sexy times out of the way, on to the rest of the story. Lily is in a bit of a predicament. After being in mourning and on stand still for the last five years, she’s coming alive and finding attraction with not one, but two hunky men. Poor Lily right? LOL Now, I’m not a fan of insta-love and although the big “L” wasn’t thrown around in the beginning, the instant connection was there from the jump. A little too fast for my liking. I’m more a slow burn kinda gal.

Speed of the connection aside, one thing I loved was the communication aspect. It’s a “popular” thing in romance to have tension surrounding some miscommunication or another. In Wild Flowers, having open, honest communication was a refreshing occurrence. The situation was non-traditional. Dec and Micah have been best buds for a long time and neither of them wanted a woman to be something that came between them. Well, not in a bad way that is. **wink, wink** Once Lily admitted to herself she wanted both of them, she didn’t try to hide it, she didn’t sneak around between them. Like an adult, she put it out in the open, because she also didn’t want to drive a wedge between the two. Talking for the win!

Hard to pick out what I loved more Dec making a brownie in a cup or Micah with the puppies, but both instances added to their hot guy appeal. Overall I enjoyed Wild Flowers. There was a good mix of seriousness and humor. The characters had distinct personalities. The dialogue felt natural. And the sex scenes were hot. What’s not to love? If M/F/M is your cup of tea, I say give it a try.
