Weekend Writing Warriors entry #14

Another entry for Weekend Writing Warriors. WeWriWa is a blog site open to all authors/writers published or unpublished. Follow the simple instructions on their blog to sign up and then post a snippet of writing on your own blog to join in on the fun.

Continuing with an excerpt from my book Fiendish and I'm picking up again with that. The excerpt picks up in the middle of chapter 3 and I will continue til the end of the chapter.

Last week we finished up dinner and they were leaving the restaurant so Seth could take Calida home. The previous excerpts had been in Seth's POV, this week picks up where the chapter changes over to Calida. It will remain in her voice for the rest of the chapter.

If you are just joining me, you can click the link below to get to the beginning.

I mentally chastised myself as I sat in Seth’s car. I couldn't believe I thought he was going to kiss me! I couldn't believe I wanted it, but I knew better. He was being polite spending the evening with me. I was not the kind of woman that was normally on his radar.
“Where to?” Seth asked, as he slid onto the plush leather seat.
His car was nice, very nice, which let me know he was even further out of my league.
“Um, you can just drop me at the Lenox Station.”

  1. No one's ever out of anyone's league in the fiction world.

    1. true, but she doesn't know that. She's a lowly secretary and he's driving a car that probably cost more than her house LOL

  2. It sounds like she is being very naive, his intentions didn't sound all that innocent... or sweet. I hope she keeps her eyes and brain open. Good 8.

    1. Well she doesn't know his intentions aren't innocent. She just thinks he's being a gentleman, polite, but not interested in her that way. Seth is very good at his game and she sadly won't stand a chance.

  3. I can feel her self doubt and feeling of inadequacy. Good snippet.

    1. Thanks :) She already has feelings of being undesirable and he just messes with that more.

  5. Hmmm, I'm still on the edge of my seat nervous after that remark in a previous excerpt about him wanting to observe her in his cellar! So this was a calming snippet LOL.

    1. LOL yeah, that was a peek into the darker side of Seth. He's not a nice man by any means. The rest of the chapter is in her POV so we see things differently now and how the two viewed the night in two very different ways.

  7. Interesting that she feels she's out of his league. That unbalances a relationship from the start,

  8. Interesting! I like that she wanted him to kiss her and that's why she's been so nervous all night. I like that she thinks he's out of her league because that's inner-conflict she'll have to overcome.

    Keep smiling,

    1. Well she was nervous just being around him. She's very taken with Seth and is a tad shy which doesn't help. He's a very intense personality and she struggles to deal with it.

Poor Calida has lots of inner-conflict to overcome. :(
