The Best Thing Ever...For Now- #MFRWauthor

Hello and happy New Year! Kicking off 2018 and once again doing the #MFRWauthor blog hop. This year I'm even starting at the beginning!

We are starting out the prompts making us make some tough choices.

How am I supposed to answer that? Well, I'm taking the approach I take when my children try to declare who is the 'favorite' child. I love all my children equally. The same goes for my book children.

Let me introduce you to them.

Fiendish is my 'first born' and it's a dark twist on the fairytale Beauty and The Beast. It's an 'orphan' in a way as it has no real home genre wise. I call it a dark romance, but even those have your standard HEA or HFN. Fiendish...while it's a HFN it's not in the traditional sense that most romance readers have come to expect. Nevertheless, I'm proud of it because I wrote a book. I had an idea and brought it to life. It was my first, it has flaws, but I love it all the same.

Not Broken is Fiendish's younger sibling, a follow up to give that HEA. I started it right after I published Fiendish (2014) but I didn't finish writing it and set it free into the world until last Thanksgiving. Yes, it took me three years. Self doubt is a real bitch, let me tell ya. I'm proud of it, because while I put it on hold for a while, I never completely gave up on it. I feel like it's a much stronger novel because during those three years I learned and improved my skill. Unlike it's older counterpart, Not Broken falls cleanly into the contemporary romance genre.

I'm currently spreading my wings and attempting to write in third person. My first two are both dual, first person POV. It's taking some getting used to, but I'm liking the change, not enough to have it be my only style, but enough that I would be okay to try it again.

Not only is it third, I'm branching out from just romance to erotic romance. Focusing on the sex more than the relationship is an interesting experience. The most recent chapter I wrote for this WIP I was rather proud of and Tweeted about.

I'm sure when that project is completed (hopefully soon) it'll be added to my list of 'best thing I wrote.'

There you have it. Maybe a bit of a cheat of an answer, but really how did you expect me to choose?
What's your favorite thing written to date? Check out the other authors on this hop to find out what they had to say.

Until next time
~Meka

    1. Thank you! I do. I told the designers my general idea and they crafted something from there. Then a few tweaks back and forth to get the final product. I'm glad you liked them.

    1. Well if you read them, I do hope you enjoy the stories. It was hard to choose, but since I only have 2 books out, I cheated and picked both.

  5. I've read some of your spicy one-liners on Twitter. Your GIF says it all. <3 I couldn't choose one favorite book, either. My characters would probably rebel. :-) Glad to see you back this year.

    1. LOL yeah. They are from the current WIP. Have to keep those characters happy, no rebellions allowed. I enjoyed last year so was happy to see the prompts return.

    1. Thank you. I was happy to introduce my book babies to everyone. They are each special to me. Third POV has been different, but not as bad as I imagined. It took me a little longer to connect with my characters, but I got a rhythm now.

  8. YES!!! It really can get you and it's harder to get over the negative words you tell yourself. Good luck to you and maybe we both beat our self doubt this year.

    1. Thank you. I'm glad to be back again. Writing the erotica was different, but I still found a way to focus on the story and the characters instead of just the sex.
